Ma Tso Lung (2017)
Ma Tsoi Lung (馬草壟). A tiny village near the Hong Kong-China border. This fish-farming village used to be within the closed area with a permanent guard post on the mountain top. Now that the closed area has been rezoned, Ma Tsoi Lung turns into a prime location for landscape photographers to capture the skyline and cityscape of Shenzhen (深圳).
Nightscape images often look surreal with a labyrinth of fishponds reflecting the illumination of commercial billboards, street lamps and household lighting across the border. It is intriguing that the rural area in the foreground actually belongs to the metropolis Hong Kong.
